Wetlab into Europe
Wetlab have just been awarded a contract with Sorin Ltd to supply Wetlab facilities across Europe. Managing Director Kevin Austin said "this was a great vote of confidence in Wetlab Ltd following on the successful partnership in the UK with Sorin and shows Sorin`s continued commitment to medical education. We have for some time been providing Wetlab services in many parts of Europe primarily linked to the launch of the new Sorin Perceval S valve in locations such as Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Holland. We are investing heavily in facilities and infrastructure to meet the new demands of working in Europe and our continued support for Wetlab`s in the UK and Ireland."
Inaugural London Cardiothoracic Surgery Core Review Course 2nd-5th June
We would like to invite you to attend the inaugural London Cardiothoracic Surgery Core Review Course on 2-5 June 2011 at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London.
The London Cardiothoracic Surgery Core Review Course is based upon the well reputed and longstanding Salt Lake City Core Review Course in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (www.corereview.org) established by Donald Doty, Editor of Kirklin's Cardiac Surgery textbook. In the United States, the Core Review Course is attended by nearly all residents prior to sitting their board examinations as well as practicing surgeons wishing to re-certify.
The course will provide a comprehensive review of the core information required for surgeons preparing primarily for Section I as well as Section II of the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery. In addition, it will be beneficial for candidates preparing for the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (EBTCS) examinations.
The course would also serve to provide junior trainees commencing their cardiothoracic surgery career with a solid and broad knowledge base which they can apply to their day-to-day practice.
It is hoped that in future, this course will serve as a useful tool for surgeons wishing to revalidate.
We are fortunate to have the key members of the original Salt Lake City Core Review course as part of our faculty to deliver the lectures. In addition, we plan to have several guest lectures from local faculty to tailor the course to the UK cardiothoracic surgery curriculum (ISCP).
The course fee is heavily subsidized and includes 4 course booklets as well as a CD containing multimedia and audio recordings of all lectures for private study.

Wetlabs at SCTS
Not long now before the 2011 SCTS meeting which this year is at the EXCEL centre London.
Once again we will be providing Wetlab and close demonstration at the event. Many of you will remember last year's very successful event and the Wetlab we provided using human hearts.
When we are not running Wetlab's at the meeting you will find us on the Sorin stand and we would be delighted to see you and discuss ways that we can help you with your training needs or even make a booking for us to bring a Wetlab to your hospital.
